AMA EMERGING TOUR 2014 – Harbour Bar July 17th

Following up from our spotlight feature on White Chalk last week AMA are happy to announce that Jemson Green will be playing a dual headline show in the Harbour bar, Bray on the 17th of July with White Chalk as part of the AMA Emerging Tour 2014.

Jemson Green have brand new material and an urge to show the world what they’ve made a serious step up having been labelled as Ones To Watch in 2014. We were able to chat with Ronan, lead vocalist, about getting to this stage, their influences and how he feels the Irish music scene is doing at the moment.

Life is quite busy for this Irish rock band at the moment, with a new album in the works and lots of gigs in the pipeline including festival dates such as Cabin Fever alongside AMA’s Big September and Red Empire, they seem to be taking it all in their stride and capitalising on the momentum. With each gig comes growing confidence and the band are starting to carve out a name for themselves amongst the Irish music scene with their energetic performances.

As far as their influences go, there is quite an eclectic mix within the Jemson Green sound. From Modest Mouse to Soundgarden and Alice In Chains, with a bit of Kodaline mixed in. With their unique rock fusion they have found themselves playing some pretty impressive gigs so far within their short career from playing a sold out Vicar Street, for Comic Relief does Dublin, to opening for the likes of Kerbdog, and playing stripped back acoustic sessions for radio gigs.

When asked how Ronan’s view of the Irish music scene is at the moment, his answer was ‘surprising but hopeful’. A year or so ago, the music scene in Ireland was lacking slightly, and Irish fans were not getting behind Irish musicians. But recently with the likes of Kodaline and Hozier taking the world by storm, it has given Irish musicians hope that the same could happen for them, and in turn giving Irish fans a reason to go to their shows and buy albums. Irish bands are really starting to feel a part of something. So without sounding too cliche, we could be undergoing a music ‘movement’ in Ireland, and long may it live!

Their next single release will be decided shortly, and then hopefully we can see their full album released mid September. They are really excited about seeing how people react to the new material, and to include some new tracks on July 17th on the AMA Emerging Tour at The Harbour Bar, Bray.

So where does Jemson Green hope to be in a years time!? Well it seems like they want to be doing exactly what they are doing now, but bigger. Touring the Album, and making a step up to one of Irelands most exciting bands.
