Don Baker releases new album with a little help from his friends

Posted October 15, 2013 by markdowning in AMA Entertainment

Don Baker is set to release his latest album ‘My Songs, My Friends’ on Friday, October 18th. ‘My Songs, My Friends’ features an array of great Irish vocalists contributing to Bakers latest offering, the collaboration format stemmed from a chance meeting in Maynooth with a relatively unknown artist by the name of Clara Rose. Clara handed Don a demo containing some of her own material, and it wasn’t long before a phone call was made requesting her vocal duties on one of his new tracks. Don’s sound engineer Stewart Gray ran the idea by him about having different vocalists in on the album and it wasn’t long before Sinead O’ Connor, Brian Kennedy and Paddy Casey were all on board this unique project.

Needless to say it was a very ambitious project to commit to, but the result is a well rounded stylistic album with a number of highlights throughout. The album balances Rock, Blues, R’n’B, Folk and Gospel seamlessly and fluidly, with some of Irelands finest vocalists complimenting the transitions.
