Meteor and Today FM: Putting Notes Behind Great Music

€3,000 funding for the best new music in Ireland!

Meteor is seeking out the best new musical talent and pledging €3,000 to give a leg up to the most promising unsigned solo acts, duos and bands in association with the Paul McLoone Show on Today FM.

Meteor will be awarding three unsigned acts €1,000 funding in January, February and March 2013.

If you fancy yourself or your act rivalling Lisa Hannigan/Glenn Hansard/Two Door Cinema Club but don’t have spare cash to spend on essential band kit or recording time, then get involved by checking out www.facebook.com/meteor and listening to the Paul McLoone show on Today FM.

The Competition: How it works

Budding musos residing in the Republic of Ireland are encouraged to submit their song entry and information about their act through a dedicated competition app on Meteor’s Facebook page.

From all of the entries submitted each month, a shortlist of four will be chosen by a panel of judges including Undertones singer and Today FM presenter Paul McLoone. The shortlisted acts will be featured each weeknight during the last week of the month on the Paul McLoone Show on Today FM 100-102 which airs between 9pm and 12pm Monday to Thursday. The lucky winners will be announced during the showon the last Thursday of each month.

In addition to the €1,000 funding, the acts will benefit from getting vital airplay through the show, enabling them to reach thousands of potential new fans, propelling them towards potential super stardom.

Meteor: Getting Behind Great Music

Meteor’s competition is all about supporting small, unsigned acts that urgently need a leg up.

She added: “Through our competition with Today FM, we want to give those acts which might be in need of extra funding the boost they need to help put themselves on the map. There’s a hotbed of talent out there and we can’t wait to hear the entries!”
