RUBBERBANDITS make their Edinburgh Festival Fringe Debut in August 2012

Their riotous, satirical hit single HORSE OUTSIDE became a global 10m hit YouTube sensation with follow ups I WANNA FIGHT YOUR FATHER, SPASTIC HAWK and BLACKMAN showing that these boys were no one trick ponies. With sold-out shows from New York to Newcastle and a Chortle award under their belts, now these urban ‘Hib-Hop’ plastic-bag-heads from Limerick make their Fringe debut with the funniest, filthiest comedy rave in festival memory.

“They’ve got the rhymes and the stage presence that compel an audience to dance, crowd-surf and clamber atop shoulders” CHORTLE

RUBBERBANDITS began entertaining their school friends with recordings of prank phone calls, which soon became successful radio broadcasts. They caught the eye of Irish broadcaster RTE and when HORSE OUTSIDE was aired on the channel the video went global and was only narrowly beaten to theChristmas number one slot by the X-Factor single. 2011 saw them play sell out gigs throughout Ireland and the UK, pick up 250,000+ Facebook fans , shoot three critically acclaimed comedy Blaps for Channel 4 plus make a four part series with MTV in the USA.

The Limerick duo released their debut album SERIOUS ABOUT MEN in Ireland at the end of last year: a double-CD packed with tracks old and new, prank phone calls and more . After topping the Irish charts it will be released in the UK this Summer. And so far 2012 has seen them play sold-out gigs in Australia, Toronto, New York, London, Belfast and Dublin. In March they picked up the award for Best Musical Comedy Act at the CHORTLE AWARDS. And in May they filmed a Channel 4 pilot – directed by Declan Lowney (the award-winning director of Father Ted) – to be broadcast in Autumn 2012.

RUBBERBANDITS (aka Blindboy Boat Club and Mr. Chrome) have never shown their faces in public and always appear with expertly fashioned plastic shopping bags on their heads. Their outrageous live shows combine raved-up music, sketches and on-stage insanity. They are hard to define but Rubberbandits straddle the music and comedy worlds like … well … like their twitter handle states: ” like the tortured breath of Bob Marley that bullies its way through the air and extinguishes the candles on Brendan Behan’s birthday cake”

“Funny, groovy and a little bit scary” HOTPRESS
