The Walls to feature on upcoming John Carney movie

The Walls song “Drowning Pool” is the opening track for the new movie “Can a Song Save your Life”, which is due out later this year. Irish writer and director John Carney has returned to the music genre that shot him to fame with 2006 Academy Award Winning movie “Once”. The movie which stars Keira Knightly and Mark Ruffalo is a soul-stirring music industry drama about an undiscovered young singer and a washed-up producer. These lost souls meet, see something special in each other and ultimately make beautiful music together.

The opening track drowning pool shows The Wall’s at their best with a rougher, honest, rawer sound infused with their traditional style we are accustomed to. The track blends ideally with the tone of the movie as it is about getting ripped off in the music industry.

“It’s a drowning pool, it’s a drowning pool this game is cruel and phoney,

don’t you ever trust, don’t think you must the cretin and his cronies.”

It looks as though the combination of an Irish writer/director and an Irish band is a winning formula as the movie is already creating a buzz and receiving critical acclaim after its only screening at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
