The Austin Leahy Band will be taking to the stage of Dublin’s Mercantile on Saturday 25th May performing songs from the debut album “In The Town Of The Foreigner”. The album is the realisation of a long held dream, composed over several years, mostly at Austin’s Kerry retreat. Released earlier this year, the album is available from Celtic Note and Tower Records as well as digitally from all usual sites.

The Austin Leahy Band are Wayne P Sheehy (musical director and producer of the album) percussion/keyboards; Eamon de Barra vocals, keyboards and flute; Jack Maher guitar, and bass Trevor Hutchinson. Support on the night comes from Paul Mc Gann.

He has a deft way with words, and the best, including “Hear the Mermaids Sing”, “Martha” and “Mind of a Woman” strike home with a sureness of touch. There’s a Van Morrison influence floating through his melodies, too, all sung in an easygoing, warm voice that recalls the thoughtful but still natural delivery of the great Roy Harper. This is fine, intelligent music that will appeal to fans of Jackson Browne, Dylan, John Prine and Mike Scott.”(Colm O Hare, Hot Press)
