Five for 2014

Posted January 7, 2014 by markdowning in Uncategorized

We’re constantly on the look-out for the next local act that is going to make an impact on the music industry, 2013 was a great year for AMA artists with The Strypes, Walking On Cars, Delorentos, Fresh Rè, Le Galaxie, Vann Music and Keywest having massive success on the live circuit. With a focus firmly on building upon our own success in 2013 we’re looking to work with emerging artists who we feel have a big year ahead of them, here is our 5 for 2014!

1. Big September

Big September closed out 2013 in style selling out a huge headline show in The Academy, after a number of single releases the band found themselves on The Late Late Show performing ‘The Preacher’ followed by various appearances on RTE and TV3. Coverage on the radio hasn’t been shy either with their most recent releases ‘Moneyman’ and ‘Tear It All Up’ being favorites on FM104 and Nova. Big September have big plans for 2014 and we look forward to seeing them becoming one of Ireland’s most popular homegrown acts.

2. Mojo Gogo

Mojo Gogo first caught our eye with their energetic and well honed live show, they pack a punch and unlike a lot of artists they convert this energy to tape very well. Having organised and thrown their own festival and independently releasing their highly acclaimed EP ‘Heartbreaks, Hangovers & Handcuffs’ in 2013, Mojo Gogo’s high quality work ethic has seen their stock consistently rise over the past 12 months. 2014 see’s the band release a new EP entitled ‘_STREETS, BACKSEATS & ENVY_’ which we feel will be their big break, having already sealed a winning place in Budweiser’s ‘Future Sounds’ competition.

3. Cat Dowling

The infectious Cat Dowling had possibly one of the finest records of 2013, The Believer is a dark and charming LP that possesses huge pop hooks and finely crafted instrumentation. Cat found herself in New York in late 2013, playing a number of showcase gigs following the build up in popularity of her album as it consistently reached new ears – receiving radio play in New York and from Los Angeles radio pioneers KCRW! The Believer got the national credit it deserves when the end of year lists were compiled, with The Metro Herald, PhantomFM, Red Bull Music and The Sunday Times all putting it in their top 3! It’s going to be an exciting year for Cat, no doubt.

4. Vann Music

Their latest single ‘Into The Night’ has seen Vann Music solidify their status as one of Ireland’s most exciting prospects, they’ve quickly crafted a sound ready for international airplay and the big stage. Having already being picked by NME as an ‘Electric Picnic’ highlight the band have gone on to be chosen for Other Voices and Whelans One’s To Watch 2014. These guys are ready for success.

5. Dearly Beloved

Dearly Beloved might not be a familiar name to Irish gig-goers but these guys have been tearing it up in Canada and The Uk, we’re excited to be bringing their live show to Ireland in 2014 and see Irish music lovers get to grips with this exciting act. They are currently resided at the famous Rancho De La Luna in Joshua Tree, California to write and record their latest offering.
